I am most grateful to have been given this prize. Floral Notes of the Alhambra was the very first formal piece of jewelry created in workshop studio at Silvermine under the skilled and talented teacher Raychel Wengenroth. The process of creating this piece is memorable because inspiration came from the teachings and lectures of people from a variety of walks of life. Most notable are two lectures that I attended. The first lecture given by Mr. Haratoun Merzian who discussed the use of iconography of the cross on 9th and 12th century Armenian gravestones. The second lecture given by Dr. Abraham Terian on Icons as depicted in early manuscripts. To quote Dr. Terian “The image of God in us is our intellect,” and “An image of an image of an archetype is imperative to capture the sole.” I also would like to express my gratitude to
Silvermine judge Nicholas Halco. Mr. Halco has been described as an “impartial observer realistic, direct and formal who reveals a clarity of vision and a quiet reverence for nature’s sensibility” in a review written in the New Haven Register. His paintings are in permanent public collections such as the Slater Memorial Museum in Norwich, Parson’s Center in Milford, and the Health Center, as well as in private collections in the U.S. and abroad.

Add ICE + Next of Kin Name to your Cell Phone
I just learned a little bit of information and wanted to pass it on…….
In Case of Emergency cell phone users can place the “ICE” (In Case of Emergency ) prefix acronym in front of the name of the people they want to designate as next of kin in there cell phone address book creating enteries like ICE–Mom, ICE–Dad, ICE–John, etc…. many Paramedics, police and firefighters are trained to look for this acronym in a cell phone.
Please also note, by using this acronym, the next of kin or the address or phone number could be accessed by someone other than a member of the emergency service thus creating a privacy concern.
For additonal information take a look at the Washington Post Article:

Keeping My Jewelry Designs Green
As I design I think about more ecologically sound and environmentally responsible ways to work. A good portion of my silver findings, wire and sheet used in my Lillian’s Girl jewelry items are made from recovered silver. I hand select my silver suppliers and incorporate sustainable or recycled wire and sheet in my designs. Their recovered silver is carefully measured and processed to ensure that it meets the highest standards of purity and quality. My suppliers recycle more precious metal than they use, creating what is called, “usage offset.” Like my customers, I want to feel good about my creations. As a jewelry designer, I want to do my part in protecting the environment and do what I can to make you feel even better about your jewelry investment.
